Make this matching bracelet and necklace set featuring colourful charms and beads

Have a go at... BEADED JEWELLERY

This project is an extract from All-New 20 to Make: Beaded Jewellery by Imogen Rhodes-Davies (£6.99, HB, Search Press), out now.

Gem necklace

YOU WILL NEED

  • 3 freshwater pearls, 4-6mm

  • 2 cherry quartz chip beads

  • 1 turquoise howlite chip bead

  • 1 pink opal nugget bead

  • 1 Amazonite oval beaded charm

  • 1 moonstone beaded charm

  • 80-100 ocean apatite chip beads

  • 1 lobster claw clasp, 12mm

  • 10-16 open jump rings, 4mm

  • 1 closed jump ring, 4mm

  • 4 clamshell bead tips, 3.5mm

  • Length of chain, 6-8cm. I have used a drawn cable chain, 8.75mm

  • 6-10 26-gauge ball headpins, 40mm long

  • Clear beading cord, 0.3mm diameter

  • Round-nose pliers

  • Square-nose pliers

  • Cutting pliers

1 Unravel 30cm of clear beading cord and cut from the roll. Set up your jewellery with a clamshell at one end. Thread the ocean apatite chip beads on until you have 12cm of beading. Finish this strand with a clamshell (see instructions in sidebar).

2 Repeat step 1 so that you have two lengths of ocean apatite beading, both starting and finishing with a closed clamshell. Set these aside.

3 Use the headpins to create charms for the beaded charm section (see instructions in sidebar). Arrange the charms with different colours and shapes next to each other, placing one charm in every link of the chain.
