Mark Saturday 30 July in your calendar as it’s International Friendship Day, a special day to remind us to be thankful for our existing friendships, nurture new connections, and encourage peace, unity and happiness in the world. Here are six ideas to celebrate your existing friendships and help you establish new ones.

1 LOVE THY NEIGHBOURS

Welcome new neighbours to your area. If you already have a neighbour you don’t know very well, suggest meeting over a cup of tea or coffee. Start a conversation with people you see every day, maybe at the gym or at the park, or the regulars at your supermarket.

2 BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER
