WHEN WILL THE VIOLENCE STOP?

This December marks 15 years since the murder of Joanna Yeates, a 25-year-old landscape architect who lived in Bristol with her boyfriend, Greg Reardon. Joanna was reported missing six days before Christmas 2010 after Greg arrived back from a weekend away to find she wasn't home.

She'd last been seen at a pub with colleagues having drinks after work on 17 December. On her way home, she'd picked up a pizza and two bottles of cider. It wasn't late when she got home, but shortly before 9pm, passersby heard two screams followed by silence.

A BRUTAL ATTACK

imageIt wasn’t until Christmas morning that Joanna’s body was found next to a quarry wall by dogwalkers, frozen and covered in leaves.

There were 43 injuries all over her body, including to her face, throat and arms.

At first, authorities wrongly suspected Joanna’s landlord and it wasn’t until early January when they turned their focus to another suspect - her neighbour, Vincent Tabak. He'd been away when her body had been discovered, spending Christmas with his partner's family in Cambridge, before heading to the Netherlands to be with his family over the New Year period.
