APPLE EXPANDS SOLAR AND WIND INVESTMENTS ACROSS EUROPE

The projects—spread across Greece, Italy, Poland, Latvia, and Romania—represent a key milestone in Apple’s global plan to reach full carbon neutrality by 2030.

More than just symbolic progress, the move underscores how Apple is taking practical, scalable steps to address its own operational footprint while helping accelerate Europe's transition toward a clean-energy economy.

A CONTINENT-WIDE RENEWABLE INVESTMENT STRATEGY

Apple's new European energy initiative adds roughly 650 megawatts of solar and wind capacity to the grid—enough to power hundreds of thousands of homes annually. The company is partnering with local developers and governments to create projects that support its retail stores, data centers, and regional offices.

These projects build upon more than a decade of sustainability work. Since 2018, Apple's global operations have run entirely on renewable electricity, and every one of its stores and offices in 44 countries operates with clean energy. The new initiative expands that leadership to the next frontier—clean energy generation at scale, integrated directly into regional grids.

In the European Union, where climate policy and sustainability expectations are among the most rigorous in the world, Apple’s expansion is viewed as both an economic and environmental contribution. Local partners say Apple's involvement helps unlock financing and visibility for renewable projects that might otherwise take years longer to complete.

MATCHING AMBITION WITH ACTION

Apple's renewable progress stands out not only for its size but for its integrated approach. The company’s environmental roadmap focuses on three key pillars:

AUTOMAKERS TURN TO ENERGY STORAGE AS EV MOMENTUM SLOWS

U.S. automakers are increasingly redirecting capital and manufacturing capacity toward energy storage, entering a business where Tesla already has a long operational lead. The shift comes as growth in electric vehicle adoption has slowed from earlier projections, leaving battery factories built for EVs underutilized and prompting manufacturers to search for alternative demand for large-scale battery production.
