The start of a bike race is always an exciting, unique spectacle. It's where, for a few hours of the day, a seemingly mundane car park is transformed into a hub of activity, with a sea of fans surrounding the neatly packed Tetris of team buses while awaiting the emergence of the riders, autograph books in hand.

As a junior, I always had an enormous curiosity about what took place on the buses before the start. Was it all silence and seriousness? Was it all a manic rush?
