Traffic measures during the festival

Wells Journal

June 26, 2025

A WHOLE series of temporary traffic measures are in place to manage congestion and keep traffic moving as revellers begin to make their way to the Glastonbury Festival.

With Pilton situated five miles outside of Glastonbury, festival traffic has very little impact on the town itself, but drivers were advised that traffic is expected to reach its peak on Wednesday. The gates to Glastonbury Festival 2025 opened on Wednesday with more than 200,000 people expected to attend the event.

‘The festival is doing everything possible and working with Somerset Council to reduce queuing but there is only so much capacity on the roads surrounding the site. Somerset Council has published its full list of temporary traffic regulations which aim to minimise the disruption for motorists and revellers.

Some of the temporary meas-ures include implementing one-way on nearby roads, reduce the speed limit on various routes and even closing some roads.

One-way traffic arrangements
