Postecoglou to stick with attacking mantra as he sees new club having 'real ambitions'

Fired Up By Lofty Forest Project

LONDON - Ange Postecoglou believes "exciting times" lie ahead for Nottingham Forest as the Australian aims to end the club's 35-year wait to win a major trophy.

The 60-year-old replaced the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo on Sept 9 after the Portuguese manager clashed with ambitious Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

The Greek billionaire highlighted Postecoglou's track record of winning trophies at Tottenham Hotspur, Celtic, Yokohama F. Marinos and during his spell as Australia boss as the reason for his arrival at the City Ground.

"I'm excited and I'm looking forward to it and I'm really happy to be here. This club has real ambitions, and that's important to me. We've got an exciting squad," Postecoglou said in an interview with Forest's media channel.

Forest, who won back-to-back European Cups in 1979 and 1980, are back in the continental competition for the first time in 30 years after earning a place in the Europa League, thanks to a seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season.

Postecoglou guided Tottenham to Europa League glory last season, ending a 17-year wait for silverware in the process. But he was still sacked just days later as a result of their disastrous league campaign in which they finished 17th.
