Teenage arsonists put lives at risk by starting massive blaze at former print works

TWO teenage arsonists who started a fire that saw 350 people from five streets evacuated have been jailed.

Scores of lives were put at risk after James Evans and Justin Keeling, formerly Evans, set fire to a former print works last August.

It led to a huge emergency services operation across Catherine Street and Frances Street in Crewe.

Now 19-year-old Evans, right top, and Keeling, aged 18, right, are behind bars.

They were sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday.

A police investigation revealed how the teenagers started the blaze by setting a pile of cardboard alight - filmed by Keeling. His phone was later seized by officers who watched the footage.

Keeling also gave an interview to the BBC as media covered the story.
