Shanahan: 'We needed to take a step back to take two steps forward'

PORT Vale owner Carol Shanahan says the club had to take a step back to take two forward.

Not every club can immediately bounce straight back from relegation at the first time of asking, but ultimately that’s exactly what Darren Moore and his side did.

And, speaking to BBC Stoke at the club’s preseason training camp, she said: “It feels good and it feels right that we've come back here (Wales) to the same place as we were last year.

“When we were here last year we signed 16 or 17 players, so it was a lot of them all getting to know each other, getting to know Darren and how he plays, and not allowing ourselves to get too down. As Darren always said it is what it is.
