'It's an awful feeling when you are just left watching'

RUSTRATED Jayden Stockley is determined to fight his way back into Port Vale's team - and sees no reason why he can’t stay there when fully firing.

The 32-year-old has always had faith in his ability and said he is not one to accept Darren Moore's rotation policy although he relishes competition for places.

He believes if you play well, you should keep your place, something that isn’t necessarily the case with Moore's teams.

Vale are away to AFC Wimbledon today scene of their triumphant promotion last season when Stockley scored a glorious header in the 2-0 win.

He has managed to get himself fit and started in the Vertu Trophy game against Accrington Stanley in midweek.

Asked about rotation and whether he and the players have accepted they won't play every week he replied: “I personally won't accept it. Just because every player should think the same.

“If you get in and do the business then you hopefully stay in. It adds that bit of competition where you perhaps come off your levels and there people are waiting in the wings for you, which is how it should be. There should be that competition.

“I'm looking forward to getting the opportunity and when I am back up and running and back at 100 per cent I don’t think there is any reason to come out.”
