An MGP spokesperson said: “You may be a customer of our coal merchanting business, and indeed, Harrison Fuels was one of the first companies in our group, with a history going back to 1932.

“That was when Jack Harrison founded J Harrison & Sons, a coal merchant serving homes in and around Stoke-on-Trent. In those early days, coal was delivered by horse and cart from nearby pits, with the business operating from a modest end-terrace house in Bucknall. Built on hard work, trust, and local knowledge, the foundations of the Harrison legacy were laid”

Now, under the third generation of the same family, the company has diversified over the last 20 years into a supplier of aggregates, paving, and garden landscaping products. Today, more than half of the company’s business is garden paving.
