DERELICT town centre buildings could be transformed under new plans submitted to the council.

The properties in Longton town centre - previously a hardware and retail store with residential accommodation above - have been vacant for more than five years.

The premises have been beset by problems in recent years.

The street was closed off in 2023 after one building partially collapsed, while the other was hit by an arson attack in September.

Now a planning application has been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council, seeking permission to convert the site into mixed commercial use.

It would include eight self-contained apartments in the upper floors.
