EPS promises free bus ride for men, ₹2K for women

SIGNALLING his readiness for a battle of populism with archrival DMK in the forthcoming Assembly election, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday made five big poll promises, including ₹2,000 monthly cash assistance for women heads of families and free bus ride for men.
Palaniswami chose the birth anniversary of AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran for launching his poll blitzkrieg. While %2,000 per month will be transferred to women heads of all ration card-holding families under Kulavilakku Thittam, bus travel in cities will be free for men. Under Amma Housing Scheme, government will procure land to build free houses for the homeless in rural and urban areas, and concrete houses will be built for Scheduled Caste families in land purchased by the government, rural poor will get 150 days of guaranteed jobs and subsidised two-wheelers will be given to five lakh women by reviving the Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme.
