A DIVISION of a Newcastle property and investment group has secured work as a principal contractor for the UK's largest container port.

- GRAEME WHITFIELD

Adderstone Civils, part of the Adderstone Group, will be the sole civils provider for the Port of Felixstowe in Suffolk, which handles around 40% of the UK's container trade and plays a key role in global logistics.

The three-year contract has come from port owner Hutchinson Ports, a subsidiary of the Hong Kong-based multinational conglomerate CK Hutchison Holdings. It follows civil engineering projects for a range of high-profile clients, including Port of Tyne and Procter & Gamble, and will support a strategy of national expansion.
