Pupils are evacuated after school fire alert

HONLEY High School was evacuated yesterday afternoon due to an “isolated fire’ in a science prep room, the school said.

The school in Station Road at Honley near Holmfirth said all students are safe and were evacuated from the building.

The school said it was proud of how “sensibly and calmly” everyone responded to the evacuation.

In a statement yesterday afternoon, the school said its phone lines and electricity were down.
