Shared ambition helped seal deal

MATT Targett has set his sights on helping lead Middlesbrough back to the Premier League after joining the club on a season-long loan deal from Newcastle United.
The 29-year-old is expected to go straight into the matchday squad when Rob Edwards’ side welcome Sheffield United to the Riverside Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
Targett told The Gazette: “I’m absolutely delighted to be here. Obviously, the club has got off to a fantastic start in the Championship so I’m really looking forward to joining and helping the team.”
The former Aston Villa defender played just 20 minutes of Premier League football last season, in five matches across all competitions.
“I haven't played much football recently,” said Targett. “I'm at an age where I want to play. When I found out Middlesbrough were interested, that was the club I wanted to come to.
