7 wells in Jaclupan now operational

The Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) announced on yesterday that seven wells in the Jaclupan wellfields are now fully operational after final welding works on two major interconnection points damaged by Typhoon Tino were completed at noon.

Water has begun flowing again from the wellfields after weeks of disruption caused by Typhoon Tino, which severely damaged MCWD’s transmission line in Talisay City and Cebu City’s south district.

Final welding works were completed on two interconnection points linking MCWD’s transmission line to the Watermatic—Tubig Pilipinas pipeline at noontime yesterday.

Seven wells in the Jaclupan wellfields are now operational said MCWD, with flushing underway to clear debris from the lines.

By mid-afternoon, water is expected to refill the Lagtang Reservoir in Talisay City, followed by the reservoir in Tisa, Cebu City.

MCWD General Manager Edgar Donoso, Assistant General Manager Edgar Ortega, and Production Division Manager John Jaluague were onsite throughout the interconnection activities.
