The Platelet Diet: Natural Remedies Through Nutrition
The Daily Guardian
|August 12, 2025
Platelets are tiny blood cells essential for clot formation and wound healing.

A low platelet count, or thrombocytopenia, can result in increased bruising, bleeding, and delayed recovery from injuries. This condition can be triggered by infections (such as dengue or viral hepatitis), autoimmune diseases, certain medications, or nutritional deficiencies. While clinical interventions are crucial in moderate to severe cases, dietary choices play a supportive role in maintaining and restoring healthy platelet levels. Incorporating specific nutrients and foods into your daily diet may help boost platelet production and improve overall blood health.
1. Folate-Rich Foods
Folic acid (vitamin B9) is crucial for DNA synthesis and the maturation of megakaryocytes, the bone marrow cells responsible for producing platelets. Low folate levels can impair platelet formation. Incorporate foods like spinach, asparagus, oranges, lentils, and fortified cereals to support folate intake.
