EVER EVOLVING STATUS OF WOMEN IN INDIA
The Daily Guardian

The feminist writings of modern age writers like Kamla Das, Shashi Deshpande, Venessa R. Sasson and so on shed a flood of light on the heart-rending lives of many women who are still doomed to domestic slavery, which is inexplicably suffocating.

The feminist writings of modern age writers like Kamla Das, Shashi Deshpande, Venessa R. Sasson and so on shed a flood of light on the heart-rending lives of many women who are still doomed to domestic slavery, which is inexplicably suffocating. These hapless women mutely bear the brunt of smothering domestic drudgery akin to a caged bird in the prison of their household. The thraldom of patriarchy has not fully loosened its octopus grip over many a woman. "Sita to Abhaya: Have Things Changed?" is an engaging book, most meticulously and elegantly compiled by Ravi Valluri and Lakshmi Valluri. The bilingual anthology in which forty-one authors have made their remarkable contributions is a biffing tribute to womanhood and it expounds on the hidden strengths of deep feminine energies.
A few transitions have been there by dint of the commendable efforts of true feminists, but many mountains still remain unclimbed. Thus, the real transformation will only take place when society challenges its old ossified patriarchal mindsets which have been deftly depicted in this book.
