DISABLED BOY NEEDS PHYSIO AID

- By SAM VOLPE Health reporter samvolpe@reachplc.com

A DOTING dad is to walk 84 miles along the length of Hadrian's Wall in hope of raising the final few thousand pounds needed to buy the much-needed medical device that can help his son to walk.

Ex-army man Jon Moore, 37, is taking on the challenge with five friends and will be heading from Bowness on Solway to Wallsend over the weekend before the August Bank Holiday.

Jon’s son JJ, seven, has cerebral palsy and a range of disabilities including visual impairment. His family have been trying to raise £28,000 to buy an Innowalk physio machine that could make a huge difference to his life - and help him walk by himself for the first time.

The Bedlington family have previously held fundraising walks along the coast and JJ’s mum Nicole Dodd-Moore told The Chronicle how an anonymous £10,000 donation had left her in tears. Now Jon’s taking on his own challenge.

He said: “We are about £4,000 away from finishing the fundraising. The 84 miles we will be doing is actually the number of hospital visits JJ has had.
