Creative director Kabelo Kungwane, son of the late Kaizer Chiefs midfield maestro, Isaac “Shakes” Kungwane, founded Kasi Flavour10 to be a creative agency that merges fashion, photography, and design to honour South Africa’s football culture.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast saw Kungwane go on a mission to discover the football cultures of our continental neighbours and draw parallels between how the rest of Africa consumes and embraces the Beautiful Game, similarly to South Africans.

“Kasi Flavour is a brand that is inspired by South African football culture, and when you start travelling in Africa, you feel how Black people are connected. In parts, we are different, but we live similarly, and we wanted to explore that. If there's Kasi Flavour in South Africa, then surely there's a similar style of play in Angola.

“We wanted to go to AFCON to dig deeper into what we do and the essence of creativity, as well as self-expression. It was such a dope experience to go there (AFCON 2023) and to explore ideas about other countries — how they play football and culturally, we are quite similar,” noted Kungwane on his AFCON experience in 2023, where he worked on a PUMA campaign to document the brand’s national teams in the streets of Korhogo.
