Mermaid Cottage is one of four 1920s art deco houses set at the foot of the White Cliffs in St Margaret's Bay, near Dover, Kent.

They were all owned by the author from 1951 to 1957.

And before Fleming took up residence, playwright Noel Coward had owned them for six years, from 1945.

Both actually lived in the house to the far right of the group of properties.

However, Fleming is thought to have written Moonraker, in the cottage on the left.
