Walk on the wild side in Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards
STRANGE creatures haunt the darkness as the nights draw in - and few look creepier than this rare brown hyena skulking in a mining ghost town.
The spooky image shows the predator next to an abandoned building in the former diamond-mining centre of Kolmanskop in Namibia.
It took Wim van den Heever 10 years to get the single shot in a perfect frame using camera-trap technology.
