Music festival goes ahead – but the fat lady was almost singing!

PERMISSION FINALLY GRANTED AFTER WEEKS OF WRANGLING FORCED CHANGE OF DATE

TODAY'S Beeston Music Festival music festival was given permission to go ahead just two days before it was set to take place.

Run by The Great British Fakeoff Ltd, the event was originally set to take place at Trent Vale Recreation Ground for its second year on August 9. But an issue with the temporary event notices (TENs) to run it presented a setback.

On July 8, Broxtowe Borough Council’s licensing and appeals panel rejected applicant Peter Lev-ey’s request for TENs - one each for the festival’s entertainment and alcohol sales, between 11.30am and 10pm.

Police feared potential crime and disorder, while Environmental Health had concerns for public safety at the event. The police preferred that the event ran off a full premises licence.
