Mum's concern for the foundations of her house

- By ELLIOT JESSETT

A WOMAN was worried she had developed 'the shakes' - until she realised it was actually her house that was shaking.

Earlier this week, Carolyne Miller was relaxing at home in Formby, when she suddenly felt the sensation of “being on a bouncy castle', and watched as her TV started moving on the wall.

The mum-of-three said she felt the house shaking, and looked out of her back window to see several large construction vehicles conducting clearance works for a new development on West Lane.

In September, the ECHO reported on the former site of Clarence House school, which is set to be demolished and replaced by the West Lane housing scheme. Since its closure in 2018, the school buildings have become increasingly dilapidated and were recently attended by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) after a fire broke out.

In planning documents linked to the development, the site is split between the two sides of West Lane, including the land where Clarence House used to operate, and the field opposite, which also backs directly onto Kenton Close.
