At last, an end to town centre obstacle course

A TOWN’S high street plagued by works for a year and a half is finally fully open for business.

Works to install new paving, benches, trees, planters, and seats are now finished in much of Birkenhead town centre.

Since early May 2024, works along Grange Road, Conway Street, and Europa Boulevard have dominated Birkenhead town centre, causing traffic delays, disruption for businesses, and a drop in footfall. Now most sections of the town centre are finished, with around 80% of the project complete.

The entire project is expected to be Done by March 2026, with defects being worked through with contractors, though costs are now expected to rise to £26m.
