Residents in West Dunbartonshire are being urged not to seek care “innappropriately” at the Vale of Leven Hospital as health chiefs stress the impact on services at the Alexandria site.

At the third meeting with the Hospitalwatch group of 2025, Melanie McColgan, Clyde Director for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC), spoke at length about the impact of inappropriate presentations to the Vale of Leven Hospital (VoLH).

Alongside senior hospital staff, the importance of Right Care, Right Place was agreed upon by all in attendance.

This message asks the community not to turn up at the Vale without an appointment, and to only attend with a referral.

Melanie said: "It was another positive and productive meeting with members of the Hospitalwatch group at the VoLH.
