McAllister and Baillie welcome Labour announcements
Welcomed Baillie and McAllister
West Dunbartonshire's Labour politicians have welcomed the Autumn Budget ... saying it will raise West Dunbartonshire children out of poverty and tackle the cost of living for families.
Last week, Labour's Chancellor of the Exchequer the Rt Hon Rachel Reeves MP announced her Budget for the financial year, promising a total rejection of austerity, and a major renewal of public services.
She announced tax rises amounting to £26 billion as she battles a downgrade in forecast economic growth.
The UK Government also announced that the two-child benefits cap for Universal Credit claimants will be scrapped.
It is estimated that the move will benefit some 2,190 children in West Dunbartonshire, lifting them out of poverty and reduce relative child poverty nationally by around 450,000 by the end of the decade.
Scotland also stands to benefit from an additional £820million.
