Tarun Chugh Hails Govt's Caste Census Move As 'Historic & Visionary'

Speaking at a seminar under the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Samman Abhiyan at the BJP State Office in Chandigarh, Chugh said the caste census was not merely about counting castes but about enabling informed policymaking for the most deprived sections of society. “The Modi government delivers with intent and integrity - not just slogans,” he said.

Chugh launched a sharp attack on the Congress and the I.N.D.I alliance, accusing them of politicizing the issue while doing little during their time in power. He noted that no full-scale caste-based enumeration was ever conducted under Congress, and the 2011 Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) lacked both transparency and seriousness. “Back then, they only offered lip service,” he said.
