In a move aimed at strengthening municipal finances while improving the city's commercial and public spaces, the Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and Chief Executive Officer, Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL), Faz Lul Haseeb on Friday undertook an extensive inspection of key municipal assets and ongoing Smart City projects across Srinagar.
Accompanied by Joint Commissioner Suhail ul Islam, the Chief Revenue Officer and other senior officials, the Commissioner reviewed measures focused on optimal utilisation of municipal properties, faster project execution and enhanced urban aesthetics-seen as critical to boosting revenue generation and economic activity in the city.
The inspection began at the SMC Commercial Complex at Hari Singh High Street, where the Commissioner interacted with shopkeepers and examined issues related to infrastructure and facilities. He reviewed proposals for façade renovation and restoration of parking spaces, stressing that improved functionality, better traffic management and enhanced visual appeal are essential to increasing footfall and commercial vibrancy in the area.
