Pair battle elements to paddle 1,650km of Ireland's coastline

TWO brave kayakers have told how they battled wild weather and huge waves to paddle the 1,650km of Ireland's coastline.

It took Richard Skelly and his friend Damien Hamill 48 days to complete the mammoth journey and the storms were so bad some days they had to stay ashore for their own safety.

They join an esteemed group of over 100 kayakers who have paddled the whole coastline. Fifteen tried last year but only one succeeded.

Over 100 family and friends turned up to greet them when they finally returned home last Saturday.
