Rhys on path to recovery

OLYMPIC CHAMPION Rhys McClenaghan has provided an update from hospital as he recovers following shoulder surgery.

The pommel horse hero gave a thumbs up to the camera from his hospital bed, with multiple layers of bandages visible on his shoulder in an Instagram post.

"Day 1 of recovery from shoulder surgery," he posted on social media.

"I've been struggling with this injury for a while now, so I'm delighted that everything went to plan with the operation and I can make my way back to maintaining my spot as the best in the world at what I do.
