Winning relatives to stick with 'ham & cheese sambos'
A FAMILY who won a record €250 million EuroMillions jackpot have said they “won't change" now they have won the huge sum of money - as Lotto bosses reveal the winning ticket was part of a family syndicate.
The group of relatives wish to remain anonymous, so while their identities are not known, it is believed they are from the northside of Cork city.
While at Lotto HQ to collect their prize, they shared how they are planning to stay grounded, regardless of the money they've won.
It has even been reported that the first move made by the group was to contact a professional for financial advice on how to deal with the win.
It's the biggest EuroMillions jackpot ever won and comes after Limerick woman Dolores McNamara scooped an eye-watering €115million in August 2005, which was the biggest lottery jackpot in European history at the time.
One member of the family syndicate, which has now won over double what Dolores won, joked about their plans to stay humble: "It will still be ham and cheese sambos for lunch!"
Another chimed in: "We're planning to remain in Ireland, and we promised ourselves that we won't let this win change us."
The ticket was bought in a city centre shop last month, when one family member had an appointment in Cork and stopped into Clifford's Centra on Shandon Street to pick up a few items.
