Bridge McFarland LLP secures £20,000 damages for ship's captain

Suffering a work-related accident can be a truly devastating experience.

But the professional and caring solicitors at Bridge McFarland LLP, with offices across Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire, including Lincoln, Grimsby and Hull, can help you navigate such a challenging and uncertain time.

Bridge McFarland LLP have recently secured a damages settlement of £20,000 for a client, Mr M* who suffered an accident at work whilst aboard a vessel.

Mr M was the captain of a ship that was moored in a tidal harbour and he was alone when it became necessary for him to trim the engine. This is a task that is necessary due to the tidal nature of the vessel's berth and involves tilting the engine.

Unfortunately, there was an ongoing issue with the engine of the boat which meant that the mechanism to perform the tilt was not fully operational. This resulted in

Mr M having to conduct the procedure manually and lift the engine himself.
