Plans revealed for new city 'food hub walkway'

PLANS have been unveiled for a new 'food hub' public walkway in Derby city centre.

A planning application submitted to Derby City Council shows how a pedestrian link between Sadler Gate and St James's Street could develop after it was revealed a £10million transformation of the area was in the pipeline.

According to planning documents, a food hub could be created between the two streets, in a bid to bring more people to the area.

It is hoped the project can deliver both "economic opportunity and improved pedestrian connectivity in the heart of Derby".

It comes just weeks after the council released details of a £10m cash injection to improve St James's Street.
