Safety works involving rocks and trees will see walking and cycling trail closed

A WELL-known Peak District trail perfect for walking and cycling will see a series of closures over the coming months.

Monsal Trail has long been a popular route for Peak District residents and visitors, but it is often closed for maintenance and safety reasons.

The Peak District National Park Authority has said that the upcoming works will take place throughout January and February, and will see the route closed in parts from Monday, January 5.

A spokesperson for the authority said: “Due to required safety works to rock cuttings and tree works, access to the Monsal Trail will be restricted throughout January and February.
