Eustace: Boys looked sorry for themselves after falling behind
Derby Telegraph
|December 08, 2025
JOHN Eustace said Derby County's first-half performance against Leicester City was "not acceptable" and reckoned the players looked sorry for themselves as they were beaten at Pride Park Stadium.
Eustace's side pushed late on for a way back into the game as they trailed 3-1 but could not find another goal that would have sparked anxiety among the visitors.
"The first half was really disappointing and not acceptable really," said the Rams head coach.
"I was very disappointed in the first half performance, especially when you go a goal down because I want to see reaction.
"I want to see positive body language and belief. I felt the boys just looked as if they were feeling a little bit sorry for themselves instead of rolling their sleeves up and get going again.
"That was disappointing. We're up against a quality team but nothing to fear. The first half was something we'd have to look at.
"The second half was great and showed the good character of the group. We made some positive changes.
