Council fees set to rise as running costs higher

RESIDENTS across the Derbyshire Dales could soon be paying more for everyday council services under a package of proposed fee increases.

Derbyshire Dales District Council is set to consider changes to fees and charges for 2026/27 at its Governance and Resources Committee meeting.

The proposals would see most charges rise broadly in line with inflation to reflect higher running and staffing costs.

Council house rents are proposed to increase by 4.8 per cent from April 2026, in line with national government guidance.
