SCOUTING For Girls star Roy Stride penned one of his happiest hits while fleeing from the California wildfires.

The singer had just moved his family to Los Angeles when the disaster ripped through his neighbourhood.

He told me: "The fires came about a quarter of a mile down the road from where we were and we had to evacuate twice - first to Calabasas and then to Palm Springs.
