BRITAIN'S gardens and farms are set to be ravaged by a new invasion of Chinese bugs, boffins have warned.

Officials intercepted eight consignments of trees at an inland border control point last month which contained the brown winged cicada fruit pest.

It attacks 200 plant species including apple and peach trees by feeding on their sap.
