SHARKS could be wiped out unless we all start being nicer to them, campaigners say.

They reckon years of negative headlines have created a climate of fear around the fish, with no one caring that their numbers have been plunging for decades.

Telly chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, inset, has backed the campaign, saying sharks are not so bad.
