Euro return is a must for United, says Teddy

- by MICHAEL HAM

TEDDY SHERINGHAM says Ruben Amorim must get Manchester United back to Europe’s top table this season.

The Red Devils finished a lowly 15th in the Premier League in the last campaign and any hopes of Champions League football were scuppered by losing the Europa League final.

That disastrous end to the campaign leaves United with no European football for 2025-26 and Treble-winner Sheringham has warned that the fans simply will not tolerate that.

United have signed Matheus Cunha (far right) from Wolves and are on the brink of adding Bryan Mbeumo (right) to Amorim’s squad and former Old Trafford favourite Sheringham believes that no midweek games might help the newcomers.

He said: "I suppose not having the added workload of European football allows Amorim more time to focus on the Premier League and gives him more time on the training field to get his ideas across to the players.
