CYNGOR Gwynedd has expressed its delight at securing £4.6 million in transport grants which will pave the way for improved sustainable travel options between a city centre and a suburb where traffic has been a major issue.

The funding is part of a wider £30 million investment by the Welsh Government to enhance transport across North Wales, aiming to facilitate easier commutes and bolster local economies through better connectivity. However, some readers of our website North Wales Live feel the money could be better spent elsewhere.

One of the key beneficiaries of this initiative will be the route between Ffordd Penrhos/Penchwintan, with Bangor receiving £1.4 million alongside Active Travel core funding of £500,000. This project receives backing from both the Welsh Government and Transport for Wales.

Councillor Craig ab lago, Cyngor Gwynedd Cabinet Member for Environment, has welcomed the financial injection, stating: "It's good news that Cyngor Gwynedd has secured over £4.6 million of transport grants from Welsh Government coffers."
