Expanded World Cup draw gets extra time

THE 2026 World Cup draw for the expanded 48-team event is so complicated, it will take two days for England and Scotland to learn their full schedule.

While England boss Thomas Tuchel and Scotland manager Steve Clarke will learn their opponents tomorrow, they will not get their fixtures or venues until Saturday evening.

Fans said while they understood why extra time was needed, the new format was less thrilling.

England supporter Fil Sollof said: “It's a shame we don't find out on the same day our opponents and our venues and fixture dates.
