Get set for a Halloween from hell

BRITAIN is bracing for a horror show of 4in of rain and gales above 90mph on Halloween as southern England and Northern Ireland face the worst of Storm Ciaran.

Heavy rain was due to edge into South East England last night before the third storm of this year's season hit.

The Environment Agency had issued 32 flood warnings and 121 flood alerts, with residents in the South West of England warned to prepare for "significant coastal flooding" amid heavy rain and strong winds.

Disruption

Chris Almond, deputy chief meteorologist for the Met Office, said "winds could even gust up to 50mph or 60mph" inland too.

An amber warning for rain covered Northern Ireland until 9am with forecasters expecting persistent heavy rain to cause further flooding and transport disruption.
