Clampdown on smuggler lorry drivers

BRITISH HGV drivers are being offered thousands by criminal gangs to smuggle migrants into and out of the UK.

A spike in France-bound drivers carrying people illegally in Kent has prompted a National Crime Agency probe.

Truckers typically pocket about £30,000 extra for leaving their lorries unlocked, in specific locations, and turning a blind eye.

In some instances, drivers have assisted the criminal gangs in loading people into their trucks.
