The Special Tribunal has ruled that two personal protective equipment (PPE) contracts, worth a combined R9 million, awarded by the Mpumalanga Health Department to Vitae Zoe (Pty) Ltd are unlawful and invalid.

These contracts, intended for the supply of 3,000 infrared non-contact digital body temperature devices and an additional 1,000 devices, have been set aside following a legal challenge by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU). The Tribunal's decision marks a significant victory in the fight against corruption in PPE procurement during the COVID-19 pandemic, with Vitae Zoe now facing financial accountability measures and legal consequences.
