Let political waters run red with compassion
Carmarthen Journal
|June 04, 2025
THE phrase “clear red water” is not a satirical reference to discharges and leaks from Thames Water.
It comes from the ToBlair era when the Rhodri Morgan Welsh Government wanted to distance itself from the UK Labour Party.
It was a way of saying that we want to do socialism the Welsh way. Now Wales's First Minister Eluned Morgan has used a similar phrase a “Red Welsh Way” - to make it clear to Sir Keir Starmer that she is unhappy with the political flow which is more blue than red.
