CAMBRIDGE
United defender James Gibbons felt his side’s victory over Accrington Stanley was “much needed” to keep them in the League Two promotion hunt. The U's claimed a 2-0 win in their final home match of the year on Friday evening. Gibbons put United in front on the stroke of halftime with his first goal of the campaign, before Sullay Kaikai’s header on the hour mark sealed the three points.
The result leaves United eighth in the table at Christmas, on 34 points from 21 matches played, one point outside the playoff spots.
