BEN Brereton Diaz says Derby County has been a “great fit” as his loan spell with the Rams draws to an end.

The Southampton winger has been a central figure as the Rams have challenged for a place in the Championship top six.

He has scored eight goals in all competitions, with seven coming in the Championship, but there are question marks over his future with the Saints, where he has a year remaining on his contract.

Rams head coach John Eustace has made it clear that he wants as many of the loan players to stay at the club and said recently that they all want to continue at Pride Park Stadium.

There is an expectation that the Rams will explore a permanent deal and Brereton Diaz told Sky Sports’ Essential EFL podcast that he has loved his time in the East Midlands.
